Reports from Lampedusa
Dear friends and followers, I am currently in Lampedusa where I have spent a lot of time in the past two years working on a new documentary project about one of the deadliest migration routes in the world: The crossing of the central Mediterranean Sea from Africa to Europe.
As part of the incredible teams of Sea-Watch.org and the Humanitarian Pilots Initiative (HPI), I have been joining their airborne missions to monitor the Central Mediterranean Sea for boats in distress, help coordinating rescues from the air and to document any kind of human rights violations.
On the ground in Lampedusa, I am spending a lot of time with my wonderful friends of Mediterranean Hope, who are present at almost every migrant boat arrival on the island and are welcoming all the people in the name of a friendly civil society.
Time is rare, but I will try my best to share with you what we are witnessing in the Mediterranean Sea on almost every day basis. I also want to give you some unique insights on the tiny but multifaceted island of Lampedusa. There is a lot, I have learned about this place in the past two years and many pictures and interesting stories to share with you.
Thank you all for following.
